Our Story

Welcome to Magretro — your destination for vintage audio cassettes and retro gaming collectibles. I curated a cared for collection of classic retro music cassettes and vintage gaming items for enthusiasts and collectors alike.
I started way back early 80's when i was a teen, and music and computers were booming in the UK, with so many different music styles, and the home computer market exploding, I started with the usual 'Pong' machine, a binatone (sadly in chip heaven), and then came 1981 and i built my own kit zx81, with expansion, where i learnt to program basic, and spent a lost youth staring at the square screen to the early hours of each morning. Still, i did get good school grades, so no harm done.
That's when my collection of music and games started, and i have been collecting ever since. Most days, i have had music in my life, boomboxes, portable tape decks, cd players blasting those tunes out, there hasnt been many days when music didnt make me happy. All types it seems, classical, opera, house, rock, pop, and even country.
My love for computers and gaming, both home keyboard based and console gaming machine, was always an excited focus, to get the latest released machine, most talked about game, and there is were my storage issue started. Shelves lined the walls, piled with cassettes, floppy disks and cartridges all through 80's.
And now to present day, as it is time to let my music and gaming collection fly to new homes to enjoy, i have cared for each and every cassette, cartridge, cd and dvd, and with retirement looming, it is time to strip down the collection for others to nurture and preserve.
Peruse and enjoy, you faithful Retro Friends.
